Come rain or shine, the Emancipation Day Celebration is on!!!
UPDATE FOR SATURDAY 9/23:
- The parade route (Lincoln Ave.) has been freshly paved for tomorrow's parade. Thank you, Penn DOT. Line up is 11 am. Parade starts at noon.
- We will have chairs at the intersection of Lincoln and N. McDonald Street for seniors and anyone that is not able to stand. It would be a good idea to bring a folding chair.
- The Street Festival begins at 1 PM.
- There will be a lot of food vendors! We'll have Refuge Church of God In Christ with chicken and ribs. Gist Catering will have a bounty of delicious soul food. The FBC Choir is serving milk shakes, sundaes, coffee, and popcorn. And of course, there's nothing like a good hot dog - we'll have them.
- On stage - A full schedule of groups. See the flyer attached below. Gospel, several mime groups including The Children of Praise, the FBC Youth Praise Team will be steppin', 2 Community Choirs and a jazz jam session. Also, our seniors (79 years and up) have been designated grand marshalls of the parade and will be surprised to find out they will be receiving proclamations from the office of Governor Rendel. Ssssh. It's a secret.
UPDATE FOR SUNDAY 9/24:
- BIG NEWS: Sunday's Free Community Cookout will begin at 12 noon. We will be airing the PITTSBURGH STEELERS VS. CINCINNATI BENGALS game outside under tents on two huge screens. Everyone is invited to attend and everything is free! We will be grilling hot dogs and burgers and will have chips, beverages, and a dessert. Please, please, please come out and join us. Did you know that Marvin Lewis, head coach for Cinncinati Bengals and Jonathan and Jay Hayes on Marvin's coaching staff are from McDonald? They were all members of our church at one time and their families continue to be active.
- At 4 PM we'll hold the Revival Service with Rev. McMahon Gray and his choir from Second Baptist Church of Penn Hills. Please join us.
- All events are open to the public. Attire is casual.
